Minimum Permissions Needed for File System Archiving

Before installing the HubStor Connector Service (HCS), it is recommended that you create a dedicated service account in your domain. The HCS will run under this account, and will use it to access the file system locations that you wish to apply archiving policies to.

Following are the minimum permissions required:

  • Standard read permissions, and
  • 'Write Attributes' permission as shown in the screenshot below. This 'Write Attributes' permission is required because HubStor suppresses updating the Last Accessed time.



NOTE: When you install the HCS, you will need to provide the credentials for the service account.
