How to Install and Configure the HubStor Connector Service (HCS)

If you have access to the HubStor Admin Portal, you can download the HubStor Connector Service installer by going to 'Administration' and then 'Tools & Utilities'.

Step 1 -- Run the Installer

Open the HCS installer file 'HubStor.ConnectorService.msi'. This will open the install wizard on the welcome step.

Click 'Next' to proceed.

Step 2 -- Acceptable Use Policy

You will need to read and accept the HubStor Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) before proceeding. Of special note, you have rights to use HubStor installable software in your organization as long as your subscription to HubStor is active. You can also find the AUP here: HUBSTOR ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (AUP).

Click 'Next' to proceed.

Step 3 -- Service Account Credentials

Enter the credentials for the service account you have created for the HubStor Connector Service. For more information on the service account, see MINIMUM PERMISSIONS NEEDED FOR FILE SYSTEM ARCHIVING.

Click the 'Validate' button before proceeding. This will test the credentials and let you know if HubStor has any problem signing in to the service account.

Click 'Next' to proceed.

Step 4 -- Install Path

Optionally change the install path.

Click 'Next' to proceed.

Step 5 -- Execute the Installation

Click 'Install' to execute the installation.

The install execution performs automatic start of the HCS Windows service.

When installation is complete, click 'Finish'.

Step 6 -- Launch the HubStor Connector Service GUI

Go to the Start menu, find the HubStor Connector Service app, and open it.

Step 7 -- Configure the Connection to HubStor

When launching the HCS app, it will open the 'Configuration' section. It will require the StorSite Web Service URL along with the credentials of the account that is configured with API authorization into HubStor.  This account is generated automatically when the tenant is provisioned by HubStor and an email with this account information is sent to the technical contacts.  It will contain the credentials for the connector service, retrieval service, and fulladmin accounts.  It will not contain the last 4 characters of the password so if it's the first time configuring the services, contact support for the last 4 characters of the password.

Optionally, this account can be the same as the HubStor service account you configured for the HCS to run in your domain as long as directory synchronization completed.  For more information on API authorization, see HOW TO CONFIGURE API AUTHORIZATION FOR THE HUBSTOR CONNECTOR SERVICE.

Click 'Save' after entering the connection information.

Once connected, the 'Connectors' tab will be available and ready for setting up connectors. To setup Connectors, see HOW TO CREATE CONNECTORS.
